Starlight Trek 

Over the past 13 years the annual Starlight Trek has helped raise over $750,000 – this has been invaluable support for Starlight’s programs that aim to restore the fun, laughter and joy that serious illness takes away. These programs include Starlight Express Rooms, Starlight Fun Centres, Starlight’s Wishgranting program, Starlight Express Van and Starlight Escapes. Each year, the credit union supports the Trek in numerous ways, including cash support, giveaways, advertising & promotion.

Meals on Wheels

Almost every day, more than 20,000 people throughout New South Wales are helped by about 240 local Meals on Wheels/Food Service organisations. At last count, just over 35,000 volunteers were regularly giving their time and skills to this essential community service.
Clients receive a nutritious and tasty meal, delivered by volunteers who have time for a friendly chat. Services work to meet clients’ individual needs, across differences in culture, dietary need, religion, medical condition, language, physical ability and personal taste.

As well as helping meet clients’ nutritional needs, Meals on Wheels provides regular social contact and community involvement to clients and volunteers alike. It is at the very heart of what a local community means.

At Macquarie Credit Union, Staff have been volunteering for the Meals on Wheels since January 07.  Currently we have 100% staff commitment, and once every four weeks, two staff members volunteer their own time (usually their lunch hour) to deliver meals and have a friendly chat with the clients.

Throughout the year, we work with many organisations developing partnerships and helping our employer bonded groups in any way we can with such events as Golf days, conferences, community days and bonded employer group programs.
